Busy doing nothing....

Well, not to many updates from me lately... I'd like to say that it's because I've been so busy going to parties and having fun and such, but alas no - it's been pretty quiet around here.

The highlight was doing a couple of loads of washing. Doesn't that sound exciting!

There isn't much to say about what I've been doing around here. It's mostly going to work, surfing the net and going to the gym. Woohoo, excitement central. There are a lot of things that I could be doing in order to make life more interesting. Kings Cross is just a short walk down the road, but that's not exactly the best place to go to.

I've looked into the bridge climb - it's $180 per person and I'm not sure if a random single person can join a larger group. I don't see why not, but I guess it depends on the group and what their disposition is like. I've seen groups of people on the bridge and the there are a variety of different times available.

I'll see if I can con someone into going with me.

Well, have fun everyone.

Getting lost...

...is the best way to find new things about a new city.

I've lived in Sydney before, but we spent most of our time then living out in the suburbs. It was pretty rare to come in to the city since there wasn't anything that we really needed here. There were all sorts of shops and schools and pretty much everything we needed was within walking distance.

However, since I'm currently living right in the heart of the city, I figured that the best way to have a look around and find out where things are is to simply take a walk. Last night I went out and simply wandered around in circles looking for places of interest. I found loads of little restaurants and shops and small places of interest that are off the beaten track. I even stumbled across the Sydney Entertainment Center which I didn't realize was just around the corner.

In other news, I can't currently connect to my sites via ftp software. I'm not sure if it's the connection I'm on or if it's my software (which is kind of old) but it's annoying because it does not let me connect and update my sites. I'll have a hunt around with different programs and see if I can figure out a workaround without having to go to a net cafe or something.

So far, life is pretty easy, but I wouldn't want to live here permanently - it's a tad expensive and there's too many people.

Settling in

Well, the new place is pretty swish.

I'm on a bed now instead of on a sofa so I can stretch out and relax at night. The place even comes with a gym and pool (down on the ground floor) which I have access to. Had a good workout this morning, which will really help with my fitness goals. Unfortunately, there are no free weights, but at least it's included in the rent.

I'm going to have a bit of spare time now, especially on days when I'm not working, so I'll be able to spend a bit more time working on Loneverse.com and writing more stories. I haven't been able to add anything for about three weeks and I'm not liking that.

Food might be a bit of a concern since the other three people here have different diets to me, but I should be able to work something out. Annoyingly since I'm right in the middle of the city, everything is much more expensive than it really needs to be. I want to buy some more clothes and I'll probably mount an expedition out to the suburbs for it rather than trying to find something cheap here in the city itself. Well, you win some, you lose some.

On a totally unrelated note, I was looking at how much it costs to go on one of those climbs of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It's $180 which seems a bit steep, but I guess they can charge that since it's a pretty big draw for the tourists. While I'm at it, I might look around and see what other such touristy type stuff there is to do around here. Might as well treat this trip like a holiday rather than sitting in the house all day.

Now in a new place

Well, I'm now in a new place in Sydney and it's looking pretty good so far.

Not too much to report right now and the battery on my laptop is running low, but it's pretty nice, no major dramas and the view is pretty good (it's on the 16th floor).
