Chook doors

Just a quick post to mark when we made some changes.

The automatic chook doors had lithium AA batteries in them, they've been running happily for a while. One was struggling and opening late so I assumed the batteries were running low.

Swapped out the lithiums for some standard alkaline AA's (store brand). We'll see how long they last. Good news is that I tested the old batteries to see how flat they were and they all came up as over 1.5v - so they weren't flat. Can use those somewhere else.

In other news, hit an obstacle on the road and blew two tyres. That's gonna be expensive.

Farewell Sal

Sal was one of our roosters.

He'd been in a poor state for a few days and you could see his health was quickly going down. His hens left him and went to hang out with the other roosters, the turkey was picking on him, and he was very lathargic.

Found him in the coop. Even though his ladies had abandoned him, he went down guarding his girls.

I buried him in a corn feed bag, a treat he liked. There was still a bit in the bottom, a small offering to take with him into the next life.

Farewell old man.

Recovery going well

Making progress. Seem to have no major repurcussions post surgery with my diet. So that seems to have gone well. Eaten some processed food, cream and a few other "high risk" foods and had no digestive issues.

Did a test run as part of pt this morning. About 30 seconds short of a pass, which isn't too bad considering I spent almost a month lying down not doing much.

Just keep trying to improve day by day.
