Still not getting enough sleep. I just want to climb back into bed. Not complaining about having some quality time with the wife though.

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Up to the next stage, so we'll see how that goes. Not sure what to do about the other aspects. Some I can't adjust, but those I can I'm working on. Still hurting....

Saturday, November 2, 2013

Dang. Fell asleep after work and didn't wake up until nearly ten. Missed out on time with my family and time with my wife. Now I got to get busy and something to burn some energy iff so I can sleep tonight without waking up at like three in the morning...

Saturday, September 28, 2013

It's nearly the end of the month. And I'm hurting. The constant exercise and lack of adequate nourishment are taking their toll. On the plus side, my weight is somewhat stable in the low 70's but on the down side it isn't going up.

Acording to my exercise app, in order to gain weight I should be consuming around 2800 calories per day. Taking the amount of exercise I do at work into account, and a more realistic figure would be around 3500 to 4000 calories every day.

On average, I'm getting around 1700 calories.

Not a good thing, and I'm eating everything I can get my hands on. I take a big lunch with me to work and I normally try and get in a good breakfast and a solid dinner. But I need more time. Another five hours per day would be nice. Some days it all works, but most days I end up missing one meal or another.

Well, tomorrow is another day. Keep trying.

Good jog

Good jog last night, two laps around town without having both feet on the ground at the same time. Still need to do more push ups and eat more...

Thursday, September 19, 2013

Need to eat more, need to sleep more and get more exercise. Luckily I hadn't put my forms in yet, but need to do it soon.

Need to put more weight on!

Working outside, driving trucks around and getting rained on. Very character building!

So much for those plans. Maybe next year...

September 2012

Nearly one year. And the wedding seems like it was just a few weeks ago. Wedding. Honeymoon. Kids' birthdays. New cars. Home maintenance. Change jobs.

So many things have happened in the last lap around the sun and I can hardly remember half of it. I've never been so happy, and I've never felt such intense pain. Even though it's only been such a short time, watching the kids growing up has been a good experience.

I've changed so much, I barely recognise myself. Went from being full vegetarian all my life to being a carnivore. Changed from cat person to dog person. Changed from city slicker to country liver. Changed from being an individual to being half of a team. Changed from cold, lonely nights to having the love of my life to snuggle up close to on those cold winter nights (yes Max, I still remember your speech at our wedding!).

And all of it for the better. I could say I've changed. I could also say I've improved.

Some people say that the first year is the hardest year. You learn the other person, how to live with them, what they are really like. There have been times when i have been vexed, when I've felt like going out into the shed and hitting the old punching bag. But there have been great times, glorious times where everything was right with the world and nothing could take away my happiness. I love my wife, completely, unconditionally.

May I always do the best I can for her, my love.

Tuesday's jog was pretty good. Managed three laps around town (9km) without stopping! Woohoo!

Still need to improve my upper body strength, especially on push ups. Sit ups I am sort of okay and can do 45 (almost) non stop, but I'm not sure I'm doing them right.

On a low brow note, I don't think my diet is agreeing with me. When I pass wind, it really stinks...

How appropriate. It's been steadily raining all afternoon and all night. This is the first time I have had something hit me so hard it kept me awake at night. It's past midnight and I have to get up at 4:30am to go to work. At least I have my lunch ready, that will save some time.

The recluse have difficulty offloading concerns. The outgoing types have a large circle of friends and a wide support network that they can share with, vent to, or just get distracted with. It would be nice to be able to talk to someone. The only option I have is to keep it bottled up and, as a wonderful person once told me, "harden the fuck up".

No point getting depressed about it. That will neither improve the situation nor make me feel better. Here's hoping I get enough rest tonight that I can function in the morning.

Dark day

I had my suspicions, I had my fears. It still hurts. But it really is my fault. I should have done more. May I be strong enough...

Getting there

Saturday night's run went well. Started at the gate and didn't stop at all for two laps. Mind you, I was going for a steady pace for stamina rather than pushing for speed. Tonight I'll increase my pace again and slow down when needed. Need to get my speed up.

This morning I did manage to get in some push ups and sit ups but don't have a lot of time in the mornings before work...

Oh boy. Moving around 55 gallon drums is hard work. It's all in the technique. Considering that a full drum is around the 180kg mark, but I only weigh 73kg or so... about twice my weight.

Lucky the trucks have lifts on them.

I'll either get a lot stronger, or break something. Hopefully not my leg or something...

First day with new job

Start at the new job today. The good news is that it is closer so I will spend less time driving and use less fuel.

The bad news is that we start earlier so I have less time in the morning. Bummer. Still managed to get one lap in this morning.

And I did it without stopping. Awesome!

Last night, I had tuna for the first time in my life. It isn't something that was cooked very often in my old house (never actually, that I can recall).

Aparantly, when I was younger I was at a friends place and when his mum made him a tuna sandwhich I asked "why is she giving you cat food?"

Needless to say, I got into a bit of trouble over that one. I didn't eat fish and the only experience I had with it was feeding our cats.

At any rate, the smell still makes me gag, but I drowned it in mayonaise and olive oil, and that made it paletable. I probably need more fish in my diet anyway.

Talking of tastes, I'm having a raw egg in a cup of milk in the mornings after my jog for protein. The taste is okay, but the consistency is a bit... slimy. Can't do much about that but I've decided I'm going to add a squirt of maple syrup. To improve the taste, add a bit of sugars and use up the old maple syrup rather than chucking it out.

On tonight's menu... lamb's fry.

Lost a day...

Today was supposed to be my day off from work but ended up spending most of the day working on various side projects and didn't get any of the things on my list done.

Double dissapointment as starting next week I'll be working six days a week. Need to make sure I keep up with the jogging, and more importantly - more push ups. Need to keep fit. Mind you, I also need to eat more...

Pretty heavy rain this morning. Put my mobile in a zip lock bag to keep it dry. Could still hear it in my pocket, just the rest of me got soaked.

Did two laps in 45 minutes, a bit slower than I would like. First lap went well, second lap was hurting.

Last night I was able to do some sets of push ups and sit ups. Dang my bony hips hurt on the hard ground. Definitly need to develop some padding back there to make it easier. I still keep putting my elbows out too far though. Progress is being made, just not fast enough for my tastes...

17 days to go

Still not happy with my level of fitness. On the plus side, my disciplinr has held and I haven't missed a morning jog yet. Been mighty tempting, on these cold, rainy mornings.

Actually, I think the wind is a bigger pain than the rain. I can just chuck a hat on and that keeps the rain off my glasses. But the cold wind... brrr! Especially my hands.

Still, it all helps to harden me up. I think I need to find someone who knows what they are doing to do push ups with. There is only so much I can get out of videos and such online but my technique is still off. I keep putting my elbows out too far.

Well, onwards and upwards...

Progress so far...

Exercise routine is going well. Currently doing two laps around town each morning, which is a hair over 6km. On my days off I do three laps.

Pushups I'm doing in an ad hoc fashion at work between tasks, but making good progress there. My form is getting better and I'm not sticking my elbows out as much.

Sit ups however, need improvement. Both in quality and quantity. The good news is that I worked out I can stick my toes under the sofa for leverage while I'm gaining strength in my core. Pretty sure standard sit ups are meant to be done unassissted. But because I'm still so bony, it isn't very comfortable to do sit ups on the hard ground.

Need to gain more weight...

6km in 43 minutes

I've worked out that my regular jogging route covers just a hair over 3km according to Google Maps. I do two laps in the mornings and today it took me 43 minutes.

Not too bad considering that I've only just started after 10 months of no jogging. :)

This afternoon: push ups. :o

25 days and counting

Yesterday I was up at 5am to go jogging in the dark and the rain. Dedication, or insanity?

Still need to work on my push ups. My chest has always been weak and my techique needs improvement. I got used to doing push ups "the hard way", spread eagle. With arms out wide and feet out wide too. I can bang out 20 but get puffed really easily.

I "know" the proper way to do a push up, I just need to develop those muscles in order to do it properly... by doing push ups!

Sit ups on the other hand... ow!

27 days to go.

First day today. (Actually, yesterday would be the first day but I'm calling it day 0). Off to a good start. Did three laps around town, which is just over 9km in total. Will do pushups and situps tonight.

Tomorrow will be the hard one. I'll be sore from today and I'll have to go out first thing in the morning before work. As in right after I get up. As in before dawn.

Yup, hard one...

Sunday Morning

A quiet night at home last night. Wasn't falling asleep on the couch this time though, not like the night before when I was on the couch watching the telly with the family and *thunk* head against the wall.

That was pretty amusing, no pain in the morning. Have a list of things to get on with, so need to prioritize and work out what is most important. Then get on with that.

Long Weekend

It's a long weekend. Which would normally be a good thing. I have a salaried job so I don't have to go to work but I still get paid.

Sadly, my wife is working night shifts, which means she's asleep during the day and so I can't do anything or go anywhere with her.

Which sucks. :(

Valentines Day 20143

Well, I for one am happy. This year I asked a lady to be my Valentine and she said yes. I got her a nice gift she liked, she got me a nice gift I liked.

Granted, it's a bit of a cheat since she is already my wife. But I can honestly say that I married my first ever Valentine. How many people can say that.

Admittedly, things are a little tough at the moment. With her working nights it means the kids and I have to keep quiet during the day so she can sleep. But I am confident we'll get past it. Things will be better if I can get some mine work. She won't have to work as much and we'll be able to get the house paid off faster.

Fingers crossed...

Nearly Valentines Day

Wow, time sure does fly. It's already February. Doesn't seem like that long ago since all I could think about was looking forward to the wedding!

Have been settling nicely into my new life with my wife and her kids. There have been a few problems of course - this is to be expected when two people with such different personalities start living together.

But it has been good and it is getting better. Life is good.

Start of the new year

It's now 2013.

Been married now for nearly four months and i couldn't be happier. Don't go on the internet much and have been neglecting my sites. And that really does not bother me. Spending time with my new family is much more important than being on the computer.

Hope everyone is having a good new year. I'm still alive and kicking (not that anybody really cares) but I'm spending my precious time with my family.
