 Making progress on the house, including the lean to. Slow, painful progress but progress nonetheless.

Hopefully finished the remote tasks with work and I can stay around the house to continue doing work.

No other really major things coming up at the moment.

Though this weekend? Was very much a lazy long weekend. Should have gotten a fair bit more done, but ended up doing late starts and being rather un-motivated. Really not feeling it. But wet season approaches, and it must be done.

Over a thousand

Chopping down trees, and moving the bits off onto the burn pile. Not a huge drama, chainsaw makes short work of dropping trees and cutting them into manageable bits.

The problem? Green ants. Lots of them, very angry. I suppose justifyably so, I was busy cutting down their homes and source of food. Still, the bites are annoying and painful. Luckily I don't seem to react to them, though I do feel like garbage.

Estimate over a thousand bites. I was getting covered in ants as I was picking up branches and logs to move around. I was countimg them, and stopped counting when I'd hit 20 (sometimes 30). Each trip I still got more bites on the way to the dump point. Some trips I'd reach 20 just before I dropped that load off. Some trips I hit 30 before taking a few steps.

And I did a lot of trips.

So just had a shower, took an anti-histamine and generally feeling like garbage. Oh well, managed to clear some land. Still lots more to go.

New house

We got the keys to the new house today. It is ... quite small. I could stand in the back yard, stretch my arms out and almost touch the back wall of the house and the back fence at the same time. :( Smaallll...

On the plus side it is pretty nice, and it is practically brand new. We're the first tenants in it. Couldn't find any major issues with it so far. Plus there is heaps of storage room.

Our gear is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, fingers crossed it arrives on time. And there isn't much damaged...

House picked out

Well, looks like we have a place picked out. An offer has been made and accepted, the bank is talking to the settlement agent and hopefully we'll be good to go in a relatively short amount of time. How long that is depends on several things, most of which I'm probably not aware of.

Life in general is doing pretty good. Most of the stuff I bought on eBay arrived without major drama so it's all good on that front. I have two packages still in transit - one from the US and one from Europe which should both hopefully arrive before we move.

The car is still losing coolant, which is a pain but is still manageable. I still want a motorbike but it does not look like that will be happening any time soon. No major disasters this week, so everything appears to be coasting along nicely.

Memo to self: get the photos up...

House Huntin'

So, today is a day to get into massive debt.

We'll be going out to look at a bunch of houses and hopefully point at one and shout "I'll take it!". Pre-approval is awesome. Just gotta stick with the re-payments.

One could say "we are going to buy a house". Likewise, one could also say "we are going to get into half a million dollars worth of debt".

Doesn't sound as good when put that way... :o(
