Oof

Oh boy. Moving around 55 gallon drums is hard work. It's all in the technique. Considering that a full drum is around the 180kg mark, but I only weigh 73kg or so... about twice my weight.

Lucky the trucks have lifts on them.

I'll either get a lot stronger, or break something. Hopefully not my leg or something...

First day with new job

Start at the new job today. The good news is that it is closer so I will spend less time driving and use less fuel.

The bad news is that we start earlier so I have less time in the morning. Bummer. Still managed to get one lap in this morning.

And I did it without stopping. Awesome!

Tuna

Last night, I had tuna for the first time in my life. It isn't something that was cooked very often in my old house (never actually, that I can recall).

Aparantly, when I was younger I was at a friends place and when his mum made him a tuna sandwhich I asked "why is she giving you cat food?"

Needless to say, I got into a bit of trouble over that one. I didn't eat fish and the only experience I had with it was feeding our cats.

At any rate, the smell still makes me gag, but I drowned it in mayonaise and olive oil, and that made it paletable. I probably need more fish in my diet anyway.

Talking of tastes, I'm having a raw egg in a cup of milk in the mornings after my jog for protein. The taste is okay, but the consistency is a bit... slimy. Can't do much about that but I've decided I'm going to add a squirt of maple syrup. To improve the taste, add a bit of sugars and use up the old maple syrup rather than chucking it out.

On tonight's menu... lamb's fry.

Lost a day...

Today was supposed to be my day off from work but ended up spending most of the day working on various side projects and didn't get any of the things on my list done.

Double dissapointment as starting next week I'll be working six days a week. Need to make sure I keep up with the jogging, and more importantly - more push ups. Need to keep fit. Mind you, I also need to eat more...

Raining

Pretty heavy rain this morning. Put my mobile in a zip lock bag to keep it dry. Could still hear it in my pocket, just the rest of me got soaked.

Did two laps in 45 minutes, a bit slower than I would like. First lap went well, second lap was hurting.

Last night I was able to do some sets of push ups and sit ups. Dang my bony hips hurt on the hard ground. Definitly need to develop some padding back there to make it easier. I still keep putting my elbows out too far though. Progress is being made, just not fast enough for my tastes...

17 days to go

Still not happy with my level of fitness. On the plus side, my disciplinr has held and I haven't missed a morning jog yet. Been mighty tempting, on these cold, rainy mornings.

Actually, I think the wind is a bigger pain than the rain. I can just chuck a hat on and that keeps the rain off my glasses. But the cold wind... brrr! Especially my hands.

Still, it all helps to harden me up. I think I need to find someone who knows what they are doing to do push ups with. There is only so much I can get out of videos and such online but my technique is still off. I keep putting my elbows out too far.

Well, onwards and upwards...

Progress so far...

Exercise routine is going well. Currently doing two laps around town each morning, which is a hair over 6km. On my days off I do three laps.

Pushups I'm doing in an ad hoc fashion at work between tasks, but making good progress there. My form is getting better and I'm not sticking my elbows out as much.

Sit ups however, need improvement. Both in quality and quantity. The good news is that I worked out I can stick my toes under the sofa for leverage while I'm gaining strength in my core. Pretty sure standard sit ups are meant to be done unassissted. But because I'm still so bony, it isn't very comfortable to do sit ups on the hard ground.

Need to gain more weight...
